Book Descriptions
for Farmer Falgu Goes to the Market by Chitra Soundar and Kanika Nair
From The United States Board on Books for Young People (USBBY)
Farmer Falgu is on his way to the market with a cart full of tomatoes, potatoes, cilantro, and three kinds of eggs. On the way, the cart bumps over potholes, a family of ducks makes the oxen stop, a big truck scare them, all leading to all three kinds of eggs cracking and some of his vegetables being destroyed. However, optimistic and resourceful Farmer Falgu gets to the market and uses what is left of his wares to make delicious omelets. There are lots of sounds and the rhythmic text make it a great book to read-aloud.
