Buran, one of the seven daughters of a poor Baghdad shopkeeper, disguises herself as a man and travels to distant Tyre where she becomes a wealthy and highly respected merchant. All goes well until she falls in love with a prince and must protect her identity by fleeing from Tyre. Interesting characters in a fast-moving plot make this fictionalized traditional Arabic tale hard to put down. (9-14 years)
