Hoping to be reunited with them, the two continue on, guided by "conductors" and others whose commitment to the cause of abolition is as strong as the children's own desire for freedom. Among those they meet on their way are Frederick Douglass and Alan Pinkerton. An uplifting novel that follows one family as they build a new life that is rooted in freedom. (Ages 8-11)
